Shitake Bench - Moroso

Shitake by Marcel Wanders, 2007. Wanders’ Shitake stools feature an embossed lacy relief pattern inspired by the tale of Snow White: finding her in a death-like sleep, the elves mournfully sit on little stools covered in the lace which Snow White had embroidered and given to them for their 100th birthday. Because they grow on tree trunks, Shitake mushrooms are referred to, in the designer’s native Dutch, by a word that means “bench for elves”. Rotationally molded polyethylene with weather- and fade-resistant integral colors: white, black, red and musterd.
