Bone China Candleholder by Rikke Jakobsen

 

 

 

Rikke Jakobsen is a Danish design and manufacturing enterprise producing elegant and subtle designs that - with their understated simplicity - capture the Scandinavian spirit. It takes it name from designer Rikke Jakobsen, the creative person behind the collection.
The collection is versatile, with pieces ranging from delicate platters, cups and bowls in Fine Bone China to large ceramic floor bowls and decorative vases. Some have covers made from New Wool. Both these and the cushions that form part of the collection are produced by distinguished Danish textile manufacturer Kvadrat.
The form of each item is significant and highly decorative. Functional - but also visually pleasing - they have been created for use singly or alongside other items, and will adapt to any occasion or setting.
All items are available in plain white, or in a delicately detailed finish featuring a matt, swirling silvery line shimmering against a white satin surface. The simplicity and beauty of the swirling line may be further explored through contemporary flower arrangements made with the use of the metal flower holder that complements the collection.
The collection as a whole strongly reflects the simplicity, elegance and high quality of designer Rikke Jakobsen's craftsmanship that is evident in her one-off pieces.
Rikke Jakobsen has been interested in the idea of fusing craftsmanship and manufacturing for a long time. Having worked with studio pottery for many years, she went on to take a degree in Ceramic Design from the Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design in London, where she began to explore how to incorporate her vision of craftsmanship, quality and personal design into a range of manufactured items. It was this interest that inspired her to launch her own label.
Rikke Jakobsen has controlled every stage of the design process from the creation of the initial prototype through to the finished product. The result is a strong, contemporary and personal collection with a fresh take on the use of Bone China, on the combination of materials and on the presentation of the end product.
Rikke Jakobsen currently lives in Rome. In her studio, she produces one-off pieces in porcelain for prominent galleries and shops in Italy.
